Recreational status

Medical status

Registering still has a point in a state where any adult may shop, because a patient buys against larger figures and qualifies at a lower age. The register sits with the same department that licenses the recreational shops.

Hemp-derived products

High-THC hemp products may be sold only by licensed dispensary facilities, cannabis retailers, and hybrid retailers. A moderate-THC hemp product may be sold outside the cannabis program only by a cannabis establishment or a vendor holding a Moderate-THC Hemp Product Vendor Certificate of Registration from the Department of Consumer Protection, a requirement that began January 1, 2025.

Home cultivation

The six plants are up to three mature and three immature per qualifying adult or medical marijuana patient, capped at twelve total plants per household. Plants must be grown indoors, out of view from the street, and where individuals under 21 cannot access them.

Six is your allowance and twelve is the address's, so three adults sharing a house do not get eighteen plants between them. The rest of the rule is about placement rather than count: indoors, out of sight of the street, and out of reach of anyone under 21.

Possession and purchase limits

On buying, Connecticut states: Adult-use consumers may purchase up to one ounce of cannabis flower, or its cannabis product equivalent, per day, in a single transaction. (Increase in Per Transaction Limit for Adult-Use Cannabis Sales, July 1, 2025)

A registered medical marijuana patient may instead buy up to 5 ounces of cannabis, per the Medical Marijuana Program page.

One figure caps what you may hold and the other what a shop may sell you in a day, and the day's figure has to go in a single transaction rather than two trips. Anything that is not flower counts against it by the equivalence the state sets, so an ounce of edibles is not an ounce.

Minimum age

Three years sit between the two ages here, and for anyone in that gap registration is the only lawful way in. From 21 the choice is yours, and a card gets you the program's figures rather than entry.

Where you can buy

Some addresses here serve registered patients only and some serve anyone of 21, so which counter you are driving to is worth checking before you go. The license a shop holds is what decides it, not the sign outside.
